Update on the California Plastic Bag Ban

The state-wide bill to ban plastic bags will be presented to the Senate Appropriations Committee for a full Senate vote on August 13th. If the bill passes Appropriations, it will need to pass a Senate and Assembly floor vote by the end of the month.

For the last 18 months, strong efforts have been made to get AB 1998 passed in California. A final orchestrated push to lobby for the bill will be held on August 12th. One hundred "bag monsters" will hit the streets of San Francisco to show what is at stake on the following day. A press conference and march will also be held on August 12th.
